First Day
Arrival & Departure
If your student is travelling independently, they will make their own way to you and contact you directly with their arrival details. We may ask you to pick them locally on occasion. If a taxi transfer has been booked, we will advise you of their ETA.
An adult from your household must be present to welcome your student on arrival.
Welcoming Your Student
On arrival, you can introduce your student to your home and explain the household arrangements, such as use of the bathroom/shower and let them know of any expectations you have of them, for example also advising you if they are going to be late home for dinner.
This is also a good time to exchange phone numbers and establish whether they use WhatsApp (we find this an ideal way of communicating between host and student). If you have any concerns, we will be there to advise, help and support you.
First Morning & Travelling to School
We ask you to accompany the junior student to school on their first morning, if within walking or cycling distance. For students travelling by car we ask you to take and collect the student on a daily basis. If your student is travelling by bus, we would ask you to travel with the student on their first morning. Students may travel independently by bus as long as there is an efficient bus service and the journey time does not exceed 25 minutes.
On arrival at Ringwood Waldorf School, please take your student to reception and ask for Liz. She will then welcome them and explain what they need to do next.
