Become a Foster Host

Any child under 16 who is staying longer than 27 nights has to be placed with a foster host. There is no real difference in being a foster host as we would still ask you to provide everything you would for a student aged 16 or over. However, there are some differences in procedure.

  • All adults in the homestay will have to complete a DBS check.
  • Your details will be registered with Social Services at your local authority.
  • Social Services will make regular visits to talk to both the host and the student.

Once a host has been assessed by a social worker, they are eligible to host long-stay under-16 students for 3 years. Contact us if you are interested in becoming a private foster carer.
