Hosting international students can be a really rewarding experience for all involved, as well as a great way to earn extra income.
We’re an accredited language school based in Southampton and we also recruit international students of secondary school age for term-time courses at Ringwood Waldorf School. Some students stay for a term, while others stay for a whole school year.
What you’ll need to provide...
- A warm welcome!
- A spare bedroom with wardrobe, linen/towels, desk and WiFi.
- Breakfast, cooked dinner and packed lunch daily
- A DBS check. This is a simple process and costs £48.80 per person.
- Transport to and from school (unless it is convenient and safe for them to travel by bus or on foot)
How much can I earn?

Single room: £185 per student per week
Shared room (twin beds): £175 per student per week
Your earnings as a homestay host are tax-free up to £7,500 per year. For more information on the government’s Rent a Room Scheme, click here.
